Target is Level 2+
VW brings Mobileye and Valeo technology to MQB fleet
Among others, VW's bestseller Tiguan is set to benefit from the partnership.

Volkswagen expands cooperation with Mobileye and Valeo: Advanced driver assistance systems are to be introduced in future MQB vehicles - including centralised architecture and over-the-air updates.
Even in the current VW flagship ID.7, hands-free driving is not really possible in practice. The technology is simply not designed for it, and the vehicle complains quite quickly as soon as the driver tries to relinquish control. To change this soon, at least for combustion-engine vehicles with the MQB platform, the Volkswagen Group is relying on the expertise of Mobileye and Valeo. The aim of the new cooperation is to equip upcoming MQB-based vehicles with advanced driver assistance systems up to SAE Level 2+, it is said. This is intended to improve safety functions and driving comfort in the volume segment while simplifying development and procurement processes.
Models based on MQB (including MQB Evo)
Volkswagen:
Polo, Golf (VII/VIII), T-Roc, Taigo, T-Cross, Tiguan, Passat (B8), Touran,
Arteon
Audi:
A1 (2nd Gen), A3, Q2, Q3, TT (3rd Gen)
Škoda:
Fabia (from Gen 4), Scala, Kamiq, Octavia, Karoq, Kodiaq, Superb
SEAT / CUPRA:
Ibiza, Arona, Leon, Ateca, Formentor
A fully integrated solution is being used for the first time, in which Mobileye's Surround ADAS platform, including the new EyeQ6 high processor, is combined with Valeo's sensors, control units, and parking systems. The functions include, among other things, hands-free driving under certain conditions on approved roads, traffic jam and parking assistant, driver monitoring, hazard detection, and a 360-degree emergency assistant. The system is supplemented by technologies such as augmented reality displays and over-the-air update capability, according to Volkswagen.
By merging several previously separate components into a centralised architecture, not only is complexity expected to be reduced and system performance improved, but competitive costs are also to be ensured. The solution will be integrated across brands into future models based on the MQB platform and will address both technological and regulatory requirements.
The initiative is part of the group's ongoing performance programme and is in the context of further strategic partnerships in the field of driver assistance and automated driving. As early as March 2024, Volkswagen announced the expansion of the Mobileye platforms SuperVision and Chauffeur to the E³ 1.2 software architecture, which is to be gradually implemented at Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, and Porsche. For the higher-volume segment of MQB vehicles, the new cooperation now marks another step towards greater automation and software integration.
